Off-White × Virgil Abloh: "What Stars Are You Under?"

For Off-White’s SS21 men’s pre-collection, “What Stars Are You Under?”, I worked as creative director at The Fabricant alongside Virgil Abloh and the Off-White team. We turned the collection into a virtual showcase: real streets in Tokyo, London, Paris and LA, scanned with photogrammetry and rebuilt as digital sets for digital garments.

The brief

The collection looked at a world being forced to reset: a pandemic, a social justice movement, a fashion calendar with nowhere to show. Physical shoots were off the table, so the question became: what counts as a “real” experience when digital and physical life keep blending?

Our memories fade. The digital ones never degrade.

The idea

Memories fade, but digital ones don’t degrade. We built the showcase as a personal journey through twists and turns, revisiting places we know. Each city was captured as photogrammetry, so the streets keep their real textures, light and wear. The clothes exist only as data, but the places are real.

The craft

Every look was rebuilt as a digital garment and placed inside the scanned scenes, styled by Ibrahim Kamara and photographed virtually by Andrea Artemisio. The result was a lookbook and a series of short films that move between documentary and simulation.
